About therapy
I am a professional psychotherapist but also an approachable person you can talk to in a safe, caring and respectful environment.
If you are willing, I can help you develop the skills required to enable you to think and act differently, coming to a new understanding of yourself. Hopefully over time you can move towards being who you really are without feeling that you have to apologise or conform.
The main technique I use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) but also use Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Relational Therapy. CBT is a therapy that you may have heard of and would like to try, but all successful therapy hinges upon the relationship that you and I will build together and the connection that we make.
Let me put you at ease
It may have taken some time and courage to explore the idea of therapy. Opening up to somebody else can be difficult.
I try hard to put you at ease and make the process enjoyable whilst also being productive.
Open and honest dialogue
It is important that you feel you are understood and valued. By developing an open and honest dialogue, it will be easier for us to talk about the difficulties in your life.
My expertise is therapy but you are the expert on your life. This process is collaborative and can enable you to start living the life you want.
Let’s meet so we can talk about it
Therapy is about talking, but with a purpose. We will start by just sitting down with a coffee or tea and having a chat. My approach is professional and relaxed.
Our initial session is about information gathering, both for me and for you, and us working out what you want to achieve. It allows me to hear your story, what brought you to therapy and maybe an idea of how you would like your life to be if it was better.
therapy in person
It is also an opportunity for you to decide if you can work with me and find out how long it is likely to take. I can then give you my professional opinion on what may be helpful and you can decide if you want to carry on.
I believe live therapy in person is most effective but once we have actually met face to face I can do Skype, Face-time or phone sessions if that is more convenient for you.
